Behind Every Great Man - Worthington (1961)

Year: 1961

Format: Beermat

Illustrator: Geoffrey Salter

Client: Worthington

Details: Geoffrey Salter illustrated a series of beer mats and press adverts for Worthington in 1961.

Each design features a respectable professional man such as an army major or judge (or conductor, as seen here) with a bottle of Green Shield revealed on the reverse side.

Salter created book covers in a similarly confident and characterful line-drawn style for P. G. Wodehouse novels published by Penguin in the 1960s. He also created work for clients including BEA and Guinness during the 1950s and 60s.
