Details: This matchbox label was created for Vin des Rochers, a table wine brand. The text translates as ‘the velvet of the stomach’. The work is signed by French artist François Vernier (b.1927).

Vernier produced designs for posters during the 1950s and 60s and is best know for his work for Air France. He also worked with Shell, Pathé Marconi, Simstonic, Peugeot and Mazda lightbulbs.
