How to See Paris - Thomas Cook (1956)

Year: 1956

Format: Booklet

Illustrator: Eileen Mary Bradpiece (1919-1993)

Client: Thomas Cook

Details: This 1956 Paris tourist brochure was produced for travel agent Thomas Cook. The artwork is signed by Eileen Mary Bradpiece (1919-1993). I saw examples of her more traditional-looking work for Swift Annual and Robin Annual (made between 1953 and 1959) bearing the same distinctive signature.

I have found a further example of her work, which was a 1960 British Railways poster of Lowestoft and Oulton Broad. I also discovered a catalogue entry for the 1953 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, in which Bradpiece exhibited a piece entitled 'Eileen Newport' in the oil paintings gallery.

Bradpiece later provided illustrations for children's books - In 1982, she wrote and illustrated her own children's book entitled "The Story of Roland The Rocking Horse".
