Details: This leaflet for Sudan Airways advertises their Blue Nile Viscount 831, a service which started operating in 1959. The artwork is signed 'Edgell', which appears to be the signature of David Edgell.

David Edgell was born in Leicester in 1930 and attended Leicester School of Art (1946-9). He produced advertising work for many clients including Shell, GPO, American Express, BEA, Financial Times, BP and British Rail. He also lectured at Hornsey College of Art (1982-3). Edgell was a staff cartoonist for the Daily Express from 1962 to 1986, as well as working for the Sunday Times and Observer.

In addition to illustration, Edgell was a photographer, producing food photography for Vogue and the Sunday Times. It is also noted that he was a professional actor holding an Equity card.
