Details: This image was created by André François (1915-2005) and was originally used on posters advertising Kodak colour film. The full-page print originates from a 1958 issue of Graphis.

François (originally named André Farkas) was born in Temesvár, Austria-Hungary, now Timișoara, Romania. He attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest (1932-33), before moving to Paris in 1934 and studying in the studio of poster artist A.M Cassandre. He became a French citizen in 1939.

He worked primarily as a painter and sculptor but is perhaps best known as a cartoonist, with clients including the New Yorker and Punch. He also created artwork for posters, book covers, children's books and stage design.
